Base Pay Range $58,656.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr

As an Entry Level Transportation Engineer / Transportation Engineering Associate in Pompano Beach, FL or Ocoee FL, you will too. This is an exciting opportunity for recent graduates seeking to build a strong foundation in transportation engineering. As part of our Engineering Academy, participants will rotate through key disciplines within the Florida Department of Transportation, including planning and environmental management, design, program management, construction, materials, maintenance, and traffic operations.

Throughout the program, participants will gain hands‑on experience by shadowing technical experts, supporting critical project tasks, and deepening their knowledge of engineering principles and practices. Projects will vary in size and complexity, offering a dynamic and engaging learning environment. Participants will contribute to the research, development, and implementation of engineering plans, cost estimates, and technical reports. You’ll apply your technical skills to support project execution and evaluation, playing an active role in delivering high‑impact infrastructure solutions.

What You’ll Do

Complete assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided

Support the preparation and modification of project reports, plans, designs, and calculations

Assist in the preparation of project quantity and cost estimates

Assist with the administration of construction contract administration

Perform engineering tasks in signing pavement marking, operations analysis, maintenance, and upgrade of the existing statewide communication system

Assist teams with organization and administrative support

Support engineering and planning teams with various tasks and duties, including but not limited to research, data collection, field investigations, development, design, construction, material testing, and maintenance of projects

Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering, or Bachelor of Engineering Technology from a university accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology

Preferred Qualifications

Has taken, or is registered to take, the Fundamentals of Engineering examination, as administered by the Florida Board of Professional Engineers, or the equivalent examination administered by another state, before appointment

Bachelor of Science or Arts from an accredited university with a focus on business, public policy, planning, communications, or management

No more than 2 years post‑graduation experience

Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future
