Product Security Engineer | Robotics AI Startup | West Coast Humanoid robots are moving from research labs into factories, warehouses, and hazardous environments. The security model for AI that controls physical machines doesn't exist yet.
Confero is partnered with a Series B robotics AI startup building the world's first general-purpose robotic intelligence: a single AI brain that can control any robot for any task.
They've raised nearly half a billion and are backed by the investors behind some of the biggest AI companies in the world.
You’ll be the founding Product Security hire who takes ownership and builds the security foundation from 0-to-1 as they scale toward their next major milestone.
What You’ll Build You’ll secure the intersection of AI, cloud infrastructure, and physical robotics. That means code review, threat modelling, and building security tooling alongside the engineering team.
You’ll design secrets management, certificate rotation, access controls, and automated scanning pipelines (SAST/DAST/SBOM) that integrate into CI/CD across AWS and embedded systems.
Finally, you’ll own firmware security and hardware attack surface protection for physical devices, SBCs and robotic platforms. This includes defending against JTAG, UART, and side‑channel attacks.
Who We Need
5+ years of hands‑on software engineering with commercial experience securing embedded systems, firmware, and physical devices
Deep Linux systems work with C++ and Python at the systems level
Applied cryptography knowledge and experience, building security programs from scratch, not just maintaining what already exists
Startup DNA preferred – you won’t be shocked by ambiguity or wearing multiple hats
Exceptional if
you've done robotics security, IoT security, confidential computing (SGX, SEV, Nitro Enclaves), or hardware attack research
Why This Matters You’re joining early enough to solve security problems that don’t have answers yet. You’ll define how an entire category of physical AI gets built securely, with consulting support but full ownership and a clear path to leadership as the team scales.
