For over 60 years, the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) team has supported the Navy’s mission to provide affordable and credible strategic defense. The FBM Program is experiencing significant growth and we need your expertise to deliver amazing new technologies to our customers while maintaining the technical requirements of the strategic deterrence.

What does this role look like? For this role, you will be joining the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Avionics organization committed to developing flight software for the missile system. You will join a team of Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC) and software engineers that designs and develops mission‑critical GNC subsystems for the FBM program. The duties for the position will incorporate all phases of the software development life cycle – requirements, design, code, test, and maintenance.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software, or related discipline or equivalent years of experience.

Previous C++ or Python development/test experience.

Active Interim Secret Clearance with ability to obtain TS Clearance.

Desired Skills

Experience in processor and microprocessor firmware (non‑OS based).

Experience in processor firmware and software (OS based) – software drivers and firmware wrappers.

Understanding of missile or satellite software systems.

Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.

Excellent team orientation.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills with management and peers.

Salary The annual base salary range for this position varies by location. For California, Massachusetts, New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington, or Washington DC: $93,200 – $164,450. For other states: ranges will reflect the work location. For most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York: $107,300 – $185,840. Salary is a general guideline and may vary based on responsibilities and market conditions.
