The Sports Information Director is responsible for planning, directing, programming, supervising, and implementing duties related to the promotion of all athletic programs at the Finger Lakes Community College Association, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.
Essential Responsibilities
Responsible for internal and external communications of all 19 intercollegiate athletic programs
Write and publish press releases and game recaps and disseminate them to local media outlets
Manage all aspects of the FLCC athletics department website
Run all game day operations for all home games, including statistics management, streaming video, and press box tasks, and train all home event staff
Ensure statistics are compiled and reported in a timely manner to the NJCAA, Region 3, and FLCC athletics website
Create and update the weekly facilities event calendar and disseminate to the college community
Develop marketing materials, stories, and social media campaigns promoting FLCC teams and student‑athletes
Maintain archives including rosters, schedules/results, photos, statistics, rankings, awards, and news releases
Promote and market FLCC athletic facilities for rental use to external stakeholders
Collaborate with athletic staff in managing, scheduling, and coordinating athletic facility use
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director and Assistant Director of Athletics
General Responsibilities
Develop relationships with local newspapers and media outlets to increase press coverage at national, regional, and local levels
Accept direction, prioritize tasks, and work under pressure and time constraints
Detail-oriented and organized approach to work
Work well with college students and interact cooperatively with faculty, staff, and administration
Strong interpersonal skills required
Proficiency in Presto stats, website management, and streaming video services
Strong ability to multitask is crucial
Organizational Relationships
Reports to the Director of Athletics
Employment Standards
Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Administration, Sport Management, Communication, or related field
Experience working within a college environment is preferred
Writing sample required during interview process
Compensation
Non-Exempt, Full-Time, Hourly Position
Hourly range: $19–$21 per hour
Evaluation performed yearly
Seniority Level Entry level
