Overview
The D272 Engineer test is responsible to support the performance and administration of the Steam and Electric Plant (S&EP), and Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) Test programs for the COLUMBIA Class in both Groton and Quonset Point shipyard. This individual will develop and issue addendums, review and certify test procedures for closeout to support major key events. Other functions include maintaining support material for the test department (Operating Instructions, Propulsion Test Instructions) and supporting the development of the test program for the Columbia Class. This individual will support the Chief Test Engineer and work closely with Engineering, the Supervisor of Ship Building and Joint Propulsion Test Group (JPTG) members. This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including off-shift and weekends to support ship key events and the shipyard test program.
Responsibilities
Candidate should be Self-Motivated and technically minded with a solid understanding of the submarine test program
Excellent organizational skills
Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED3+ years of mechanical experience or shipyard test experience
Preferred:
Bachelor's of Science Degree in Engineering
Former naval experience preferred
