Overview We’re partnering with a top 10 global public accounting and advisory firm to hire a Corporate Tax Manager for their growing Corporate Tax practice. This is a great fit for a manager-level tax professional who enjoys leading complex corporate income tax engagements, managing teams, and owning ASC 740 income tax provision work for large, multi-state and global companies.
You’ll work closely with corporate clients, tax specialists (including a national tax office), and internal engagement teams while having access to strong tools, training, and leadership support.
What You’ll Do
Lead end-to-end corporate tax engagements – planning, executing, directing, and completing projects while managing budgets and timelines
Oversee corporate income tax compliance and planning for large, multi-state/national/global clients
Own and review ASC 740 income tax provision work (preparation, review, and audit support)
Supervise, train, and mentor senior associates, associates, and interns; provide performance feedback and support career development
Review tax returns prepared by staff and recommend strategies to improve accuracy and identify tax savings opportunities
Research and consult on complex federal, state, and international tax issues; leverage tax technology and provision software
Respond to inquiries from the IRS, state, and other tax authorities
Build and maintain strong client relationships, working effectively with client management at all levels
Identify and help pursue opportunities to expand services with existing and prospective clients
Stay current through regular professional development and training
What We’re Looking For (Must-Haves)
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
4–7+ years of progressive corporate tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience
Active CPA (State of CA) or JD with an active law license
Strong experience in corporate income tax and ASC 740 Accounting for Income Taxes
Demonstrated experience with corporate compliance and full-cycle tax provision (prep, review, and audit support)
Recent experience in public accounting with a top 15 firm or a large regional firm
Experience supporting large, multi-state/national/global corporate clients
Solid proficiency in US GAAP and corporate income tax laws and regulations
Strong working knowledge of broad-based statutory income tax compliance and consulting, including:
State and local income taxes
Taxation of international activity
Transfer pricing concepts
Proven engagement management skills – leading teams, managing deadlines, and communicating with stakeholders
Exceptional client service, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
Willingness to work onsite at least 2 days per week in the LA or Newport Beach office
Ability to travel as needed for client work
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
Experience with OneSource Tax Provision (OTP) or similar provision software
Experience collaborating with national tax technical teams or a firm’s national tax office
Currently at the Manager level (ideally 1–2 years in title)
Work Location & Schedule
Hybrid: Minimum of 2 days per week onsite in Los Angeles or Newport Beach
No relocation assistance provided; open to candidates currently in Southern California or those willing to self-relocate.
