Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) Lead
to join our esteemed team.
Children’s Minnesota’s neonatology department encompasses the largest high-risk neonatal care program in the Upper Midwest and the fourth-largest neonatal program in the U.S. Our team of over 20 neonatologists, 80+ neonatal advanced practice providers, and 500+ nurses and support staff provide exceptional care for more than 1,900 neonatal visits per year. We also offer neonatal transport for over 500 neonatal patients annually.
Our comprehensive neonatal services program includes Levels IV, III, II, and step-down care units with a combined bed capacity of nearly 200 beds. This program is a collaborative effort between Children’s Minnesota neonatal and pediatric services, Allina Health System's fetal and maternal services, and The Mother Baby Centers at Abbott Northwestern in Minneapolis, United Hospital in St. Paul, and Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. Our neonatal program extends to multiple community sites in both the east and west metro areas.
Position Summary
As a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Lead (NNP) at Children's Minnesota, you will serve as the first point of contact for NNP staff to address day-to-day concerns with a span of control of up to 35 direct reports. You will collaborate with our expert neonatal team to provide exceptional care for high-risk newborns, playing a crucial role in managing the medical needs of critically ill infants and utilizing your expertise to ensure the best outcomes.
Clinical Responsibilities
Provide clinical patient care in our Levels IV, III, II, and step-down care units, as well as several community campuses in the Twin Cities. Participate in the care of the highest acuity patients, including ECMO. Provide resuscitation and stabilization in the delivery room, attend fetal surgeries, and offer virtual care through our Neonatal Telehealth Program. Participate in our state-of-the-art neonatal transport program, transporting over 500 neonatal patients per year by ground, rotor, and fixed-wing transport servicing Minnesota, the Dakotas, Iowa, and Michigan.
Leadership Responsibilities
The NNP Site Lead functions in a leadership role for NNPs to manage the day to day practice clinical operations at their site. Work closely with the unit’s Medical Director and Nursing Patient Care Manager to facilitate program needs and ensure quality care and outcomes for patients and families. Manage staffing to meet coverage needs Work with other Site Leads to ensure NNP program consistency and process Evaluate employee performance Collaborate with The Mother Baby Center and other departments to ensure best practice, workflow, and outcomes Provide clinical supervision to clinical trainees and/or interns Communicate shared vision, decisions, and updates on service line, department, and organizational information Facilitate discipline meetings as directed by the manager Participate in change management processes

Qualifications
Current MN RN License Current MN APRN License Current NNP certification Current NRP and BLS certifications Completed advanced training program and is certified by NCC as a neonatal nurse practitioner. Two years of level III NNP experience preferred Minimum of two years of management/leadership experience preferred. Master's Degree, Current MN RN License, Current MN APRN License, Current NNP certification, Current NRP and BLS. Hospital credentials and member of the professional staff at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of MN and sites.
