Job Summary
The
Human Resources Generalist
provides support in areas such asrecruiting, benefits administration, employee relations, training, development,orientation, data administration and documentation, talent management, HRcompliance, and other related activities. Essential Functions:
Internal Communication and Collaboration: - Support and promote corporate company core values of honesty,professionalism, respect, trust and teamwork and utilize the Ducommun Way methodology to achieveobjectives. - Demonstrates honesty, integrity, and conduct that conforms toMagSeal values and culture. - Drive strong employee relations through frequent and clear communications,clarity of expectations, andpromoting positive relationships amongmanagement and employees. - Build and develop close relationships with cross functions(Operations, SC, Finance, Quality and Engineering).
Policy, Procedure and Process Administration: - Interfaces and communicates with employees regarding basic HRpolicies and procedures. - Assists employees and managers with routine HR questions andemployee relation issues. - Ensures worked performed is in compliance with all HR regulatoryrequirements. - Must be able to interpret and provide guidance regarding federal,state, and local employment laws/policy. - Support a culture of fair and equitable employment practices.
Benefit Administration: - Performs benefit administration within policy and regulatorycompliance including assisting with general benefitinquiries and onlineenrollment, claims resolution, collection of required documents, invoicing andpayrolladjustments, and communication. - Support and drive employee participation in company sponsoredwellness programs.
Unemployment, Leave and Employment ExitAdministration: - Responds to inquiries from third party vendors such as disability,unemployment, leave of absence, etc. - Administers off-boarding activities including exit interviews,user change requests, and collection of companyproperty.
Systems Support and Administration: - Assists employees with the use of HR systems such as theSelf-Service Portal and Talent Management System. - Manages HRIS data and interface integrity within complianceincluding timely and accurate data entry of new hires, terminations, and other changes, as well as runningreports and performing necessary audits.
Safety & Worker’s Compensation: - Support safety initiatives. - Administer worker’s compensation process
Recruiting and On-Boarding: - Carries out recruiting processes such as posting job openings,reviewing resumes, scheduling of interviews, interviewing, follow-ups,maintenance ofapplicant tracking system and keeping managers updated. - Administers onboarding activities including new hire orientation,collection of paperwork, and pre-employmentscreenings.
Employee Engagement and Recognition: - Support the employee engagement strategy to facilitateorganizational performance and enable successfulorganizational change. - Carries out and plans company sponsored events, CommunityEngagement Events and other events as assigned.
Talent Development and Performance Management: - Carries out employee and manager training initiatives. - Coordinates annual goal and appraisal processes.
Continuous Improvement: - Engages and participants in HR related organizations (e.g., SHRM). - Participate in improvement initiatives to drive performance andstandard work. Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited university/college inbusiness or a related area. - Two (2) years of professional experience in the HR field or a relatedarea; manufacturing environment preferred. - PHR certification preferred.
Required Skills & Qualifications: - Must be a US citizen or a US permanent resident. - Local to the Rhode Island facility. - Familiar with commonly used concepts, practices, and proceduresand able to rely on experience and knowledge to performthe functions ofthe job. - Demonstrated knowledge and application of employment law,recruiting practices, benefits, FMLA, ADA, EEO, relatedindustry trendsand new developments, and state and federal statues regulating human resourcesfunctions. - Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills. - Computer literate in all Microsoft and Outlook programs.Able to learn internal programs as necessary. - Experience with using and managing HRIS software and systems,preferably ADP systems. - Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities timely andefficiently within a rapidly changing environment. - Excellent verbal, written, and interactive communication skillswith all levels of employees, management, and businesspartners. - Demonstrated ability to communicate and project company image necessaryto effectively attract and retain employees. - Organization skills, with emphasis on attention to detail. - Team oriented. - Understanding of confidentiality within the HR department. - Ability to build trust and serve as an employee advocate. - Conscientious, organized and meticulous - records must be accurateand maintained. - Ability to read, understands, and communicates internal proceduresand policies. - Ability to learn the basics of manufacturing processes within thefacility. - Ability to deliver training to employees.
Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required: - Office environment and light manufacturing environment. Working conditions are: 60% officeenvironment, 40% manufacturing environment. - Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required. - Ability to travel as necessary. - Must be able to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds. - Must be able to handle stress associated with position. - Regularly required to talk/hear, stand, walk, sit, see and use ofhands/fingers to handle or feel. The expected annual salary range for this role is $45,000 -$62,000. Salaries are based uponcandidate’s skills, experience, qualifications and business considerations.
