Maintain reliable attendance and follow all call-in rules for the safety and welfare of our patients. Work as a team member helping others to contribute to the overall success of Corewell Health. Essential Functions
Operations: Plans, organizes, maintains, and controls the technical and clerical operations of the Point of Care department, including workflows of equipment, specimen processing, turn-around time, and results; oversees new test development and implementation. Maintains communication with the Operations Director and Pathologist. Financial: Establishes and maintains operational budgets within the approved plan. Quality: Maintains quality control records, monitors quality assurance metrics, and strives for continuous quality improvement within the department. Supervision: Interviews, hires, trains, evaluates staff, and manages staffing schedules. Conducts staff meetings and maintains open communication. Recommends staffing and salary adjustments. Policies and Procedures: Develops and maintains operational and technical policies to meet quality standards and regulatory requirements. Technical Resource: Performs and consults on operational and technical procedures; participates in committees; maintains continuing education; oversees staff training and competency. Point of Care Testing: Implements protocols, manages data systems, evaluates new equipment, and oversees inventory and quality systems. Human Resources: Manages department personnel to ensure quality and achievement of goals, including discipline and performance management. Additional responsibilities include supporting special projects and hands-on testing when needed. Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Histotechnology, or related field. 3-5 years of relevant laboratory experience. Certifications: CRT-Medical Laboratory Scientist, CRT-Medical Technologist, or CRT-Clinical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP) upon hire. Preferred: Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification.
