Job Description:
The Commodity Manager is an individual contributor responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies, as well as recommending product innovations based on advancing technology. This role involves negotiating, administering, and managing the full spectrum of commercial contracts focused on client software and SaaS needs. The Commodity Manager will also oversee the business-to-business relationships between Salesforce and strategic software suppliers through daily interactions and supplier reviews, aiming for cost-effective procurement decisions.
This position is located in San Francisco, CA, Indianapolis, IN, Bellevue, WA, or remotely within the US, reporting to the Director of Software on the Technology Sourcing Team.
Performance Objectives:
Develop and implement software-related supplier sourcing strategies to ensure high quality, timely delivery, and competitive costs.
Possess a good understanding of business contract law and experience negotiating software licensing contracts, including SaaS and traditional licenses.
Demonstrate results in implementing procurement best practices, building strong relationships with internal clients and suppliers, and advising on procurement strategies for cross-functional teams.
Use RFI, RFP, and RFQ techniques to identify, select, and engage suppliers, maintaining a competitive market advantage.
Establish proactive procurement philosophies, strategies, policies, procedures, and systems.
Support integration efforts related to M&A activities within software categories.
Influence cross-functional teams and strengthen internal relationships to meet business requirements and cost targets.
Manage software suppliers to monitor and improve performance where applicable.
