Hadron Energy, Inc.
Base pay range
$120,000.00/yr - $170,000.00/yr
Additional compensation types Annual Bonus and Stock options
Company Description Hadron Energy specializes in Micro Modular Reactor (MMR) development, design, and research based in the San Francisco Bay Area. As the leading MMR developer, Hadron Energy is building factory‑produced, transportable microreactors that provide 24/7 carbon‑free power for data centers, government facilities, industrial sites, and remote communities. Our mission is to create a brighter, healthier, and more equitable energy future.
This is a full‑time on‑site role for a
Nuclear Safety Engineer , based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The position is ideal for candidates with strong technical experience in nuclear safety analysis, probabilistic risk assessment, and regulatory compliance who are passionate about advancing safe, scalable nuclear technology.
The Nuclear Safety Engineer will support the development, evaluation, and verification of safety‑related systems and analyses for Hadron Energy’s micro modular reactor (MMR). This individual will collaborate with reactor design, thermal‑hydraulics, licensing, and systems engineering teams to ensure that the reactor meets or exceeds all applicable safety, regulatory, and performance requirements.
You will play a central role in defining the safety case for Hadron’s innovative reactor design—conducting analyses, preparing documentation, and supporting the NRC licensing process while helping shape the next generation of safe, low‑carbon energy technology.
Responsibilities
Conduct
nuclear safety analyses
across a broad range of anticipated operational occurrences (AOOs), postulated accidents, and design basis events
Develop and maintain safety analysis models using tools such as
RELAP5, TRACE, MELCOR, SCALE , or equivalent codes
Support
probabilistic risk assessment (PRA)
development and updates for reactor systems, identifying dominant risk contributors and mitigation strategies
Perform
deterministic and probabilistic safety evaluations
to ensure compliance with NRC regulatory requirements
Collaborate with systems, thermal‑hydraulics, and reactor design teams to integrate safety requirements into design architecture
Develop safety‑related documentation, including
SAR (Safety Analysis Report) sections , technical evaluations, and safety‑related calculations
Participate in
hazard analyses, failure modes evaluations, and reliability assessments
