About the Role:
The Unit Secretary plays a critical role in the efficient operation of healthcare units by providing essential administrative and clerical support to medical staff and patients. Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in a healthcare administrative role or unit secretary position preferred.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures.
Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard office software.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification as a Unit Secretary or Medical Administrative Assistant.
Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting.
Familiarity with healthcare privacy laws such as HIPAA.
Advanced computer skills including scheduling software and database management.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Answer and direct incoming phone calls promptly and professionally.

Schedule appointments, tests, and procedures as directed by healthcare providers.
Prepare and distribute daily reports, correspondence, and other documentation.
Coordinate communication between patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and confidentiality regulations.
Order and maintain office and medical supplies inventory.
Assist with billing and insurance documentation as needed.
Support the healthcare team with various clerical tasks to enhance workflow efficiency.
