Description

MELE is seeking a site lead to support the Mobile Detection Deployment Program (MDDP)/Mobile Detection Deployment Unit (MDDU) program. MDDUs are assets designed to supplement Federal and State partners' and first responders' existing CBRN detection and reporting capabilities in support of national and other special security events. The program is growing into the full spectrum of CBRN detection, with a focus on radiological/nuclear detection operations and instrumentation. The MDDU force will be voluntary and managed on a rotational basis for scheduled and short-notice deployments. The site lead reports to the Program Manager and is responsible for operational and program support, serving as the lead personnel at their location and ensuring all tasks are completed successfully. Deployment may occur without prior notice, and experience with radiological/nuclear detection instrumentation is required.

Responsibilities

Initiate, organize, and report on all program planning and management tasks.

Deploy equipment as needed, including transporting detection equipment via towable trailer to various locations.

Coordinate, initiate, and track deployments of the assigned equipment.

Ensure detection equipment is repaired, calibrated, and maintained in a ready state 24/7.

Provide coverage during standard and non-standard hours, including weekends and holidays.

Provide just-in-time training on deployed equipment to stakeholders at events.

Complete After-Action Reports (AAR) after deployments.

Assist with scheduling off-site part-time staff for surge deployments.

Provide status updates to the Program Manager.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Experience with chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) detection, especially radiological/nuclear detection.

At least 10 years of relevant experience in R/N detection training and supporting related operations at special events or during steady-state operations, including demonstrations, training, and exercises.

Knowledge of equipment such as Personal Radiation Detectors (PRD), Radiological Isotope Identification Devices (RIID), Mobile Radiation Detection Systems, and auxiliary equipment like radios and radioactive sources.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing.

Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office suite.

Radiation Worker training and experience working with radioactive materials.

Experience with agency fleet requirements.

Willingness to travel 50-75% within the U.S. and territories, including deployments over 10 days.

Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a dually pickup truck with fifth wheel trailer.

Active or ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance and DHS suitability.

Desired Experience

Experience with biological and/or chemical detection equipment.

Bachelor's degree preferred, but equivalent experience may suffice.

Location:

Portland, OR (full-time)

Salary:

$180,000 - $220,000, dependent on experience and market factors.
