The Director of Finance supports the CFO in managing all facets of financial operations, accounting, regulatory and management reporting, investments, reinsurance, risk management, and strategic initiatives to ensure the company’s stability, profitability, and compliance within the Property & Casualty insurance industry. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Accounting & Financial Operations Implement statutory accounting principles, policies, and procedures. Create and maintain clear, concise, and accurate supporting schedules for all trial balance accounts. Perform strong account analysis with thorough financial understanding. Oversee receipt, disbursement, banking, and custody of funds, securities, and financial instruments, including related reconciliations. Lead preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for management, the Board, and Board committees. Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual regulatory reports to the Indiana Department of Insurance, other state regulators, the NAIC, AM Best, and company partners. Prepare and remit state and municipal premium taxes, including related filings. Investments Ensure all investment accounting and reporting is accurate and timely. Maintain an effective working relationship with the company’s third-party investment accounting partner to ensure smooth communication and efficient processes. Audits & Compliance Work closely with independent auditors during the annual statutory audit. Collaborate with the Indiana Department of Insurance during statutory five-year audits. Maintain a comprehensive database of all required finance deliverables and due dates. Requirements: Statutory Property & Casualty insurance accounting experience. Demonstrated understanding of insurance accounting concepts. Self-starter with strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to work independently. Exceptional work ethic with a solutions-oriented mindset. Statutory reporting experience, including preparation and filing of quarterly and annual statements. Insurance investment accounting experience. Seniority level
