About Our Company Lids Sports Group is the largest licensed sports retailer in North America, selling fan and fashion-oriented headwear and apparel across the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Australia. Operating out of Indianapolis, IN, our retail stores offer officially licensed headwear and apparel from collegiate and professional sports teams, plus top brands like Nike, New Era, Adidas, and Mitchell & Ness.
We currently operate 1,200+ locations domestically and 50+ internationally, including specialty concept stores for the NBA, NHL, Paris Saint-Germain, and numerous MLB teams. In recent years, Lids has built partnerships with iconic global brands including Marvel, Playboy, and the Harlem Globetrotters, and gained ambassadors like Justin Jefferson, Quavo, and Josephine Skriver – creating a community for both sports fans and fashion lovers.
The company is currently expanding with the goal of becoming the largest licensed brick‑and‑mortem sports retailer across the globe.
General Position Summary
Produce sales gains by providing customer service.
Meet or exceed Company Objectives in all individual statistics.
Provide consistent, documented appraisal of an associate’s sales performance. Offer feedback on areas of strength and opportunity while keeping in line with Company Objectives.
Adhere to current visual guidelines, including proper merchandising, signage, and store cleanliness.
Maintain a professional appearance consistent with the Dress Code Policy.
Duties and Responsibilities
Generate Sales
Produce sales gains by providing customer service.
Meet or exceed Company Objectives in all individual statistics.
Document appraisal of associate’s sales performance.
Adhere to visual guidelines.
Maintain a professional appearance.
Control Expenses
Protect company assets within Lids Retail policies.
Assist in preparing store schedules that provide proper coverage and adhere to wage control guidelines.
Follow all policies to manage inventory, including receiving, transferring, price changes, and product counts.
Perform proper documentation and record keeping per Lids Retail policies and applicable laws.
Open and close the store as required following the Operations P&P Manual.
Support and adhere to all Lids policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Supervise Associates
Participate in Lids Training Programs and adhere to set goals.
Assist in recruiting and training store personnel.
Encourage compliance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Perform work of subordinates as needed.
Communicate with employees at all levels.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Required Knowledge & Skills
High school diploma or equivalent plus one year of relevant experience.
Proven ability to produce sales results while minimizing loss.
Strong interpersonal skills and verbal communication in a clear professional manner.
Computer proficiency and familiarity with related software programs.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to climb a ladder and work with hands overhead.
Standing required for up to 100% of the work time.
Ability to work unsupervised.
Assistant Store Managers can earn up to 25% above local minimum wage based on experience. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. Assistant Store Managers PT are also eligible for monthly store sales bonuses and a 40% employee discount.
