The Goddard School
As the Assistant Director at The Goddard School in Pioneer Square, you will support the Director and leadership team in managing the daily operations of a high‑quality early childhood education program. You will assist in guiding teachers, partnering with families, maintaining licensing compliance, and helping to ensure a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all children and staff.
This role is ideal for an early learning professional who is passionate about child development, values collaborative leadership, and is ready to grow into a leadership position in early childhood education.
Core Responsibilities
Support the Director with daily administrative and operational functions of the school, including staffing, scheduling, licensing, and facility maintenance.
Assist in mentoring and supporting teaching staff in accordance with early learning best practices and DCYF regulations.
Help maintain compliance with all Washington State DCYF licensing requirements and NAEYC standards, where applicable.
Collaborate with families and staff to support children’s individualized development and learning goals.
Promote and model an anti‑bias, inclusive approach to curriculum and school culture.
Aid in managing enrollment, family communication, and community engagement.
Serve as Acting Director in the Director’s absence.
Qualifications
Associate Degree required in Early Childhood Education or a related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred or must be willing to complete a plan toward a degree per DCYF licensing requirements).
Minimum two years of professional teaching experience with children aged birth to 5 years required.
At least one year of experience in a supervisory or leadership role in a licensed child care or early learning setting.
Experience in a NAEYC‑accredited program is a plus.
Must meet all WA State DCYF licensing requirements, including background check and TB test clearance.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $60,000 – $65,000 per year
