About the Role You will join the Platform Engineering team at Matterport, building features and services that serve as the glue and entry point for all Matterport products. With billions of requests each month, you will design and scale services that support our API‑heavy, microservices environment. This role is located in Irvine, CA and offers Monday‑Thursday in‑office plus optional work from home on Friday.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and deploy new features and services.

Develop services using Kotlin, Python, and front‑end technologies.

Build APIs, backend services, and integrations that support our products.

Work with relational and non‑relational data stores.

Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and QA.

Ensure proper monitoring and respond to issues in live environments.

Advocate for good engineering practices.

Mentor and coach junior engineers to reach their full potential.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited, not‑for‑profit, in‑person college/university.

5+ years of experience developing SaaS solutions using modern OOP languages such as Java and/or server‑side Kotlin.

Experience with microservices technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Experience with messaging frameworks such as RabbitMQ and Kafka.

Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.

A solid track record of developing testable, maintainable, well‑documented code.

Track record of commitment to prior employers.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with Python.

Familiarity with Elasticsearch.

Experience with Autodesk Revit or other building information modeling software.

Exposure to non‑relational data stores such as FoundationDB.

Familiarity with UI frameworks such as React or Angular.

Exposure to or familiarity with Microsoft stack technologies including C#, .NET core, MySQL, etc.
