Head of Government & Regulatory Affairs
GEICO is seeking a highly strategic, innovative, and experienced executive to lead the company’s engagement with policymakers and regulators at the federal, state, and local levels. The role includes developing and executing government relations strategies, advocating for GEICO’s business objectives, and ensuring regulatory compliance across all jurisdictions.
Base Pay Range $266,000.00/yr – $494,000.00/yr
Key Responsibilities
Government Relations & Strategy Development
– Build and maintain trusted relationships with legislators, regulators, and key policymakers; develop and execute comprehensive federal and state strategies; align advocacy with enterprise goals.
Policy Advocacy
– Analyze proposed legislation, assess business impact, develop data‑driven advocacy positions; identify emerging trends; represent GEICO before legislative bodies; oversee the Political Action Committee (PAC).
Regulatory Engagement
– Oversee engagement with insurance departments and regulators; partner with Legal on new or evolving rules; navigate market‑conduct examinations and investigations; educate internal stakeholders on regulatory developments.
Cross‑Functional & Team Leadership
– Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing team covering all 50 states; collaborate with stakeholders for cohesive strategies; drive internal communication and alignment on government priorities.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Juris Doctor (JD) strongly preferred.
Experience: 15+ years in government affairs within insurance or financial services; proven leadership and team‑management experience.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute complex strategies aligned with business objectives.
Analytical Skills: Exceptional skill in analyzing legislative and regulatory environments and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication; persuasive articulation to policymakers and senior executives.
Relationship Building: Success cultivating trusted relationships with policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders.
Preferred Knowledge: Deep understanding of auto insurance laws, regulations, and related policy issues.
Leadership: Ability to build internal alignment, foster collaboration, and lead enterprise initiatives such as PAC management.
