Hilton Austin is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Property Operations (Engineering) to lead our full-service property’s Engineering Department and drive exceptional operational performance in the heart of downtown Austin.
Located in the heart of downtown adjacent to the Convention Center, this AAA 4-Diamond property sits 31 stories high boasting 801 rooms, 3 food & beverage outlets, and 112,000 square feet of meeting space. This property provides an excellent opportunity for a talented Director of Engineering to join an award winning team right in the middle of an incredible city, filled with vibrant entertainment, art and culture, inspiring cuisine and stunning outdoor experiences.
As a key member of the hotel’s leadership team, this role oversees all building systems, preventive maintenance programs, capital project planning, and a talented union Engineering team within our big-box operation. We’re looking for a strategic, hands‑on leader who can elevate standards, enhance efficiencies, and ensure the reliability and readiness of this high-volume convention property.
The ideal candidate is a hands‑on Director of Property Operations with a sharp eye for detail, exceptional project management skills, and a true passion for mentoring and developing their team. Experience in a convention-based hotel is essential, along with 3–5 years of Director‑level leadership in a complex, fast‑paced operation.
Responsibilities
Direct and oversee the functionality and safety of the facility, including, but not limited to, physical buildings, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, heating and cooling systems, life safety systems and grounds according to federal, state and local regulations
Conduct facility inspections
Assign, verify and document completion of all routine maintenance and repairs in the property maintenance management system; direct, oversee and maintain required documentation for energy management and conservation and preventive maintenance programs
Lead, manage and communicate information about capital projects and property rehabilitations, including, but not limited to, scheduling, budgeting and complying with contractor bidding standard
Obtain required licenses and permits to ensure full compliance with codes, regulations and safety standards
Direct daily department operations including, but not limited to, guest service standards and initiatives, product quality, inventory management and cost controls, systems use and management, budgeting and forecasting, adherence to federal, state and local standards and meeting participation and facilitation
Monitor and develop team member performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision and professional development, conducting counseling and evaluations and delivering recognition and reward
Recruit, interview and train team members
