Job Description
WSP in the US seeks an Environmental Project Manager with experience managing multidisciplinary teams to obtain Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) authorizations and related permitting for interstate natural gas pipeline system infrastructure projects. Position based in New York City office; other locations considered: Washington DC, Valhalla, NY, Sheldon CT, or Morristown NJ. Full‑time, salaried with benefits and optional remote work.
Your Impact
Manage multiple projects across development phases, from routing/siting to construction compliance.
Direct resource teams on environmental studies and permit applications including FERC Section 7, Blanket Project authorizations, and Third‑party EA/EIS documents.
Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies for permitting.
Generate business development leads, write proposals and presentations, and capture project work.
Collaborate with engineers, attorneys, planners, GIS analysts, permitting and environmental specialists, land agents, and construction compliance monitors.
Communicate with public and community stakeholders at hearings and meetings.
Client coordination: prepare and monitor project scope, budget, schedule, and forecasting.
Participate in field reviews, compliance inspections, and site meetings.
Travel up to 25% of time for client and internal meetings.
Required Qualifications
B.S. or B.A. in Environmental Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, or related degree.
Minimum 12 years of professional experience managing environmental licensing and permitting of pipelines.>
Expertise in Natural Gas Act regulations administered by FERC; working knowledge of other federal environmental regulations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Self‑starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional certifications as applicable.
Master’s degree in Environmental Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, or related field.
Compensation
Expected Salary (all locations): $139,800 – $220,150.
