Position Summary The
Coordinator ,
Annual Giving & Donor Engagement
drives the YMCA of Greater San Francisco ’s broad-based fundraising initiatives, building a culture of philanthropy across our 14 branches. This role manages annual giving programs including the Community Campaign, Giving Tuesday, membership giving, and other engagement opportunities that inspire support from donors giving between $100 and $15,000.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Advancement Operations & Analytics, the
Coordinator ,
Annual Giving & Donor Engagement
partners closely with branch staff, marketing, and Major Gift Officers to execute cohesive, mission-driven campaigns that engage members, volunteers, and community supporters.
Job Responsibilities Annual Giving & Campaign Management
Plan, implement, and evaluate the annual Community Campaign across all 14 branches, providing tools, resources, and guidance to ensure campaign success.
Lead Giving Tuesday and other broad-based appeals, coordinating messaging, timelines, and outreach strategies.
Manage donor segmentation, data pulls, and acknowledgment processes for gifts ranging from $100–$15,000.
Monitor campaign progress and provide regular reports and dashboards to leadership and branch teams.
Collaborate with Marketing & Communications to align messaging and create compelling donor materials and stories.
Donor Engagement & Stewardship
Develop and implement strategies to cultivate, recognize, and retain annual donors and members who give philanthropically.
Coordinate branch-level donor engagement events and communications to strengthen relationships and encourage continued support.
Work in partnership with Major Gift Officers to identify and transition mid-level donors with greater capacity for giving.
Ensure consistent and timely donor acknowledgment, recognition, and reporting across all branches.
Serve as the primary liaison to branch campaign leads, providing coaching, resources, and campaign performance updates.
Partner with the Advancement, Marketing, and Operations teams to create cohesive donor journeys and unified communications.
Support the data integrity and tracking of annual giving programs through CRM systems and donor databases.
Contribute to special projects and initiatives that advance the YMCA’s mission and Vision 2030 philanthropic goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Marketing, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
2–4 years of experience in annual giving, fundraising, or nonprofit development.
Proven ability to manage multi-channel fundraising campaigns and donor communications.
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills; comfort working with branch leaders, volunteers, and donors.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in donor databases (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce), Microsoft Office, and digital communication tools.
Passion for the YMCA’s mission and commitment to equity, community, and belonging.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This position operates primarily in a professional office environment and regularly uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and video conferencing tools.
The role involves frequent computer-based work, including data entry, reporting, and communication with staff, volunteers, and donors.
Occasional travel to YMCA branches, meetings, and community events may be required.
The position may require extended periods of sitting, standing, or walking, as well as occasional lifting or moving of materials up to 20 pounds (such as campaign supplies or event equipment).
Standard business hours apply; however, occasional evening or weekend work may be needed to support campaigns, events, or deadlines.
