Position Summary The Sr. Surgical Tech utilizes advanced surgical techniques as part of the healthcare team to assist with direct patient care activities during medical procedures. The role ensures a safe environment, verifies that equipment is functioning properly, and that procedures are conducted to maximize patient safety. Responsibilities include preparing and stocking the operating room before and after surgery, setting sterile instrument fields, maintaining aseptic techniques, and assisting with staff orientation and departmental committees.
What It Takes to Be Successful Required Qualifications
Successful completion of an accredited course in surgical technology.
Completion of clinical training in an acute care perioperative setting, preferably in an academic medical center.
Ability to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Read, write, and communicate effectively in English and understand medical terminology.
Preferred Qualifications
Possession of a national Scrub Technician certification.
Licenses and Certifications Basic Life Support Education.
