Division Chief – Colorectal Surgery Join the team at CommonSpirit Health/Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, leading the Department of Surgery's Division of Colorectal Surgery in clinical, academic, and research activities.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

Diagnose and treat a wide range of colorectal surgical conditions, develop comprehensive treatment plans, and conduct thorough medical and surgical examinations.

Communicate effectively with patients, families and multidisciplinary healthcare teams, ensuring clear and concise medical information and fostering a collaborative patient‑centered approach.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, document medical findings, and ensure compliance with coding and billing regulations.

Order and interpret diagnostic tests, perform and supervise procedures, and collaborate with specialists and nurses to provide optimal patient care.

Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case discussions, and provide consultative services to other healthcare providers.

Engage in quality assurance and improvement initiatives, review and analyze clinical outcomes, and implement changes to enhance patient care and safety.

Adhere to ethical and legal standards, stay informed about healthcare regulations, participate in audits, and maintain up-to-date medical knowledge.

Commit to continuous learning through ongoing medical education, training, and contribution to clinical protocols and guidelines.

Teach and mentor surgical residents and medical students, lead academic research projects, and publish scholarly work.

Lead colorectal quality, safety, and research initiatives across the CHI health system.

Qualifications

American Board Certified or Board Eligible in Colorectal Surgery.

Valid and unrestricted state medical license.

Fellowship in colorectal surgery and demonstrated scholarly and educational activities at the Associate to Professor level at an academic institution.

Leadership experience and vision in advancing colorectal surgery within an academic, teaching, and clinical environment.

Strong communication, collaboration, and quality improvement expertise.

Where You'll Work Creighton University Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska—a high‑volume academic surgical center with a population health institute and a resident leadership program. The department offers resources such as EPIC EMR, three robotic surgical systems, and 12 operating rooms.

Compensation $240.00 – $290.00 per hour (salary guarantee and paid relocation expenses).
