Position Summary This position is accountable for providing project engineering support to Orion Marine Contractors Inc. Responsibilities include developing bid packages for subcontractors, calculating project costs, selecting suppliers, procuring materials and services, interpreting project plans, scheduling project work activities, providing project oversight, interfacing with project personnel (Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen), and helping to ensure successful project completion and close‑out.

Specific Responsibilities

Work with the Project Management Team to ensure successful completion of ongoing or new projects.

Monitor actual costs and complete current project accounting for materials, services, labor and other associated costs.

Develop bid packages for subcontractors.

Procure subcontractors, permanent materials, consumables and services from suppliers for current projects as required.

Interpret project plans and specifications.

Schedule project work activities according to plan timelines to ensure timely completion.

Interface with project team members, suppliers, customers and others involved in project work.

Ensure that project team members work in a safe environment and are knowledgeable of safe work practices and policies.

Participate in Safety and Environmental initiatives to comply with State/Federal regulations and improve existing company programs.

Assist in the development of bid proposals for upcoming marine construction and services projects.

Authorized and obligated to stop work when an unsafe condition is anticipated or observed.

Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies; subject to disciplinary action for non‑compliance.

Perform other administrative and technical duties as assigned.

Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.

Position Requirements BS degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Science or related discipline and at least 2 years of work experience.

Working knowledge of Project Management & Administration, Marine Construction, Materials Procurement, Estimating, Scheduling, Project Tracking Software, Cost Control, Engineering & Project Standards, and Safety & Environmental Compliance.

Willingness to travel, ability to make business decisions based on available information, results‑driven, able to influence and motivate team members, self‑motivated, strong leadership by example, high degree of personal integrity, effective communicator, and ability to work out‑of‑town for extended periods.

Physical/Mental Requirements Essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.

Ability to wear and properly utilize PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel‑toed shoes, etc.) as required.

Remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately; ability to evacuate work area in a timely manner.

Walking, stepping, climbing between locations on the job site, often onto/from work barges, boats, vessels, or docks.

Standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, climbing or sitting for long periods.

Lifting and carrying objects up to 20 lbs as required.

Adapt to extreme temperature changes and outdoor conditions.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive salary: $100 000‑140 000 annually depending on experience.
