The Department of Nutrition and Exercise Science is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor for the Bastyr University Kenmore campus, 15 miles north of Seattle. Bastyr University’s nutrition degree programs are unique in their emphasis on whole foods and the multicultural, political, and ecological dimensions of food. This is a full‑time Faculty Position that includes didactic and clinical teaching and advising for graduate nutrition students, as well as a critical administrative role as the director of the Master of Science in Nutrition‑Didactic Program in Dietetics (MSN‑DPD). The role balances administrative hours needed as program director with fewer clinical and didactic teaching credits.
Responsibilities
Director of the MSN‑Didactic Program in Dietetics: program resource management, course development, scheduling, and ongoing assessment of curriculum and program outcomes.
Lead the accreditation process and serve as Bastyr liaison to ACEND.
Provide counseling and academic advising to MSN‑DPD students, advise and recruit potential DPD students.
Teach NES didactic and clinical courses on campus and at the Bastyr teaching clinic.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
M.S. or Ph.D. in Nutrition or Dietetics and Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).
Experience:
Minimum of three years teaching at the university level; minimum of one year administration experience; experience with program assessment preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
Demonstrated excellence in inclusive teaching and advising; excellent organizational and communication skills (writing, speaking, listening).
Understanding of ACEND accreditation standards for DPD programs.
Knowledge of spreadsheet and database applications, nutrient database software, learning management systems (e.g., Canvas), and electronic health records (e.g., Epic).
Compensation & Benefits Starting Salary: $45 /hr; pay commensurate with experience. Potential earnings for a full‑time role (30‑40 hours per week): $70,200‑$93,600. Full‑time benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, tuition assistance, and other accommodations per institutional policy.
