Halo Industries, Inc.
The Company
Halo Industries has developed technology that replaces an outdated semiconductor material slicing process. Our innovative, laser-based solution not only minimizes waste but also enhances material efficiency, thereby enabling advancements across high-growth markets, including automotive, telecommunications, and power electronics. Founded in 2014 at Stanford University, Halo Industries secured significant funding in 2024, fueling our expansion and the preparation for volume manufacturing.
The Opportunity Halo Industries is seeking a Mechanical Engineer who will contribute to the design, testing, integration and deployment of both proprietary and commercial wafer processing equipment. Working with Halo’s product and manufacturing teams, the hired candidate will contribute to the optimization and scaled deployment of Halo’s technology.
The primary responsibilities of the position include:
Design, build, and test high-precision electro-mechanical R&D and production manufacturing equipment and tooling, starting from initial process conceptualization through to production deployment on factory floors
Drive conceptual and detailed designs, using 3D solid modeling (Solidworks)
Build prototypes and validate designs
Release parts, assemblies, drawings and ECO’s needed for product release and product support
Communicate requirements, timelines and deliverables clearly in written and verbal formats
Work with fabricators, using DFM principles to achieve robust designs that aren’t unnecessarily complicated
Work with NPI to provide the resources and documentation needed to deploy Halo’s equipment at scale
Work with software, electrical, and systems engineers to produce integrated solutions to manufacturing needs
Conduct root cause analysis of test failures and production issues to improve performance
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years of professional experience (or M.S. / Doctorate and 3+ years of professional experience) in mechanical design engineering,
Proficiency in CAD modeling (preferably Solidworks)
Proficiency in precision machine design
Hands‑on experience designing, assembling, testing, and debugging mechanical and electro‑mechanical equipment
Experience with Structural and Thermal FEA
Experience in GD&T
Hands‑on fabrication/prototyping experience, such as machining and additive manufacturing
Preferred Qualifications
Minimal Iteration Development (get it right earlier) skills
Familiarity with precision engineering concepts such as micro positioning, kinematic design, dynamic system analysis, thermal compensation, etc.
Experience with manufacturing documentation including BOMs and assembly drawings
Experience in machine design for high precision industries (i.e. semiconductors, imaging, life sciences)
Expertise in mechatronics/automation design (motor sizing, actuator design, sensor selection, etc.)
Experience in industrial automation (robotics, transfer mechanisms, control systems)Past startup experience and insights/lessons learned on effective scaling from R&D to production
Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)
Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)
Family Leave (Maternity, Paternity)
