Position Summary
The Universityof New Mexico School of Medicine Department of Neurosurgery
is recruiting to fill a board certified or board eligible,
Open Rank, Open Track
position for provision of pediatric neurosurgery care. This person will join the established pediatric neurosurgeon currently practicing and teaching neurosurgery residents at the University of New Mexico. The University of New Mexico is the only tertiary referral Neurosurgical center in the State of 2.3 million people. There is a significant need and opportunity to grow and expand an established practice focused on the pediatric patients of New Mexico. Overall, the department has a comprehensive practice focusing on a diverse range of neurological disorders in both pediatric and adult neurosurgery, with recent re-establishment of an ACGME approved residency in 2022. UNM is also the only Level 1 trauma center in the state and participation in the general trauma call pool will be expected.

About Albuquerque, New Mexico Albuquerque is a unique city with mountains to the east (including the longest aerial tram in the Americas), volcanoes to the west, and is home to one of the largest hot air balloon festivals in the country that is one of the most photographed events in the world. Minimum Qualifications
MD, DO, or equivalent degree
Completion of a Residency in Neurological Surgery, accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)
Completion by start date of a Fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery accredited by an Accreditation Council for Pediatric Neurosurgical Fellowships (ACPNF)
Preferred Qualifications
Academic neurosurgery practice; as a resident, fellow, or faculty member
Teaching; with lectures and presentations listed
Scholarly activity; with evidence of publication, participation in clinical/translational research, and/or independent funding of research
Professionalism; with outstanding ability to communicate effectively across multiple specialties
Commitment to Community; with a demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the University's mission to serve local and global communities
