This role will report to Director, Electrical Engineering and based in San Jose, CA**Location:** This role will be based in **San Jose, CA. It is fully on-site, in office role.****Role and Responsibilities:*** Product design and new product development interfacing Fuel Cell generation to various end applications including grid parallel export and large scale microgrid support.* System-level Electrical Design for custom applications, from concept development to product release and continuing field support.* Design validation and acceptance testing, including full power testing of Microgrid systems larger than 1 MW.* Compliance testing and certification against various Grid Interconnection standards such as IEEE 1547, UL 1751, and other international standards.* Troubleshoot, define, and initiate corrective actions for field failures and production issues.**Skills, Education, and Experience:*** B.S./M.S./Ph.D. in electrical engineering or a related field* 10+ years relevant work experience with B.S./M.S., 4+ years relevant work experience with Ph.D.* Strong knowledge of the behavior and use in power electronic devices (such as inverters and DCDC converters) in high power (>100kW) interfacing applications.* Strong knowledge of both Inverter-based Resources (IBRs) and Rotating Machine-based power generation.* Strong knowledge of Microgrid Concepts, such as the paralleling of many machines, grid forming sources, grid following sources, and the challenges of integrating multiple energy sources into a single microgrid, including concepts of transient stability.* Strong EE fundamentals.* Strong knowledge of electrical system-level design fundamentals.* Knowledge of Medium Voltage (MV) systems, including protection schemes.* Knowledge of Inverter-based Grid-Forming and Grid-Following operation, including transition schemes between these modes.* Knowledge on the modelling and simulation of Power Electronics converters and Power Electronics based power systems.* Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills* Strong technical communication and collaboration.**Nice to have:*** Knowledge of Datacenter or Mission Critical system design.**About Bloom Energy:**Bloom Energy is an equal opportunity employer and makes employment decisions on the basis of merit.
