About the Role The clinician will serve as a Clinical Social Worker in our adult outpatient clinic located in the newly renovated Putnam Hall on the South Campus of Stony Brook University. The role may include integration with medical subspecialty areas. Responsibilities include direct patient care, needs assessments, diagnostic evaluations, individual and group psychotherapy.
Shifts totaling forty hours per week, including the possibility of evening hours. Hybrid work model available with 25–50% of appointments/work via telehealth.
Responsibilities
Direct patient care, including needs assessments, diagnostic evaluations, individual psychotherapy, and group psychotherapy.
Conducting intake assessments and providing evidence-based psychotherapy such as CBT.
Participating in academic activities including teaching, supervision, and research.
Qualifications
MSW from an accredited social work education school.
New York State LCSW license.
Knowledge and experience providing evidence-based psychotherapy, including cognitive behavioral therapy and group therapy to adults.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified in evidence-based practices for substance use disorder (e.g., CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Supportive‑Expressive Therapy, Relapse Prevention, Multi‑dimensional Family Therapy, Contingency Management).
Experience training social work interns.
Experience providing care via telehealth videoconferencing platforms.
At least 3 years of post‑licensure experience conducting intake assessments, group therapy, and individual psychotherapy.
