Avionics Senior Technical Lead

who is fueled by high ownership, execution horsepower, growth mindset, and driven to understand our world, science/technology, and life itself, for the benefit of all on Earth and beyond.

POSITION SUMMARY We are looking for a resilient, high‑energy, experienced Avionics Senior Technical Lead to develop avionics for the next generation spacesuit. This position directly supports the nation’s ambitions of landing the first woman and next man on the surface of the moon.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide technical oversight of program‑wide avionics functions and design to support Axiom’s EVA System as it evolves from development to production and testing.

Coordinate and plan tasks with Avionics Team to meet program development plan and schedule.

Collaborate with the Office Chief Engineer to provide Avionics support on EVA system.

Provide mentorship to engineering staff as part of the Power Avionics and Controls team.

Manage the overall avionics architecture and drive sound technical decision making.

Participate in all aspects of avionics development from design to certification and flight.

Design spaceflight rated PCBs for critical life support systems.

Design instruments including FPGAs, microprocessors, power, and analog components.

Serve as the motive force for pushing designs through the development lifecycle.

Manage and communicate project progress, status, and issues to stakeholders and leadership.

Build and test prototype and spaceflight hardware.

Prepare documentation for design reviews, manufacturing, assembly, and testing.

Perform additional job duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Required

Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering with 15+ years of experience

Comfortable driving forward and delivering outcomes in ambiguous, fast‑moving environments

Ability to communicate and problem‑solve proactively

Preferred

Experience with high‑speed digital circuits

Experience with spaceflight or harsh environment rated electronics

Experience with NASA or DOD requirements and regulations

Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation

Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised

Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones
