The Operations Finance Analyst is a critical role in analyzing, tracking, and optimizing the Manufacturing related costs and profitability for the growing $400M+ Warfighter Systems division. This Finance Analyst will be an important business partner to both the Operations and Supply Chain Teams. Using data and analysis, this role provides insights into key cost drivers and supports decision-making processes. The Finance Analyst will report directly to the Cost Accounting Manager for the Warfighter Systems division in Roanoke, VA.
Key job responsibilities include:
Conduct thorough analysis of manufacturing costs, including direct and indirect materials, labor, and overhead expenses
Identify cost drivers, trends, and areas for improvement to enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness
Establish and maintain standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead
Review and update standard costs annually, ensuring alignment with current market conditions and manufacturing practices
Oversee inventory valuation, including raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods
Monitor inventory levels, perform regular reconciliations, and identify discrepancies or variances
Coordinate quarterly physical inventories and weekly cycle counts
Contribute to inventory control strategies to avoid excess or obsolete inventory
Perform monthly closing activities, journal entries and reporting as required
Generate accurate and timely cost reports, including cost of goods sold, production costs, and variance analysis
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
CPA/CMA is a plus but not required
Minimum of 3+ years of relevant work experience preferred
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in fast-paced environment
Highly effective communication skills (verbal and written)
Overall mindset of continuous improvement
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to be able to proactively identify and implement process improvements
Advanced expertise with MS Excel including complex formulas and pivot tables
Working knowledge of Accounting principles and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
