Data Science Analyst – Precision Analytics University of Chicago pay range:

Base pay range

$70,000.00/yr – $100,000.00/yr. Adjusted based on skills and experience.

Job Summary The role provides professional support and solves problems in collecting, organizing, and analyzing information from the University’s internal data systems and external sources. The Analyst performs data analysis assignments related to data manipulation, statistical applications, programming, analysis and modeling to support projects. They support data and analytics work by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to inform decision‑making, program improvement, and research; ensuring data accurate, accessible, and actionable.

Responsibilities

Collect, clean, and organize data from multiple sources.

Conduct analyses using statistical and computational methods.

Develop data visualizations, dashboards, and reports to share findings.

Collaborate with program, training, and operations teams to apply data insights to projects.

Ensure data quality, security, and integrity across systems.

Contribute to cross‑team initiatives by embedding data‑informed practices.

Develop and code data dictionaries for discrete data.

Write, implement, and develop efficient code and machine‑learning tools and pipelines for data processing and analysis.

Work with collaborators to implement emerging external computational tools for program data.

Develop training material.

Keep lab knowledge‑based training up to date.

Calibrate data between large and complex research and administrative datasets; guide and set operational protocols for collecting and analyzing information.

Design and evaluate statistical models and reproducible data processing pipelines using best practices in machine‑learning and statistical inference.

Provide expertise for high‑level or complex data‑related requests and engage other IT resources as needed.

Analyze moderately complex data sets to extract and purposefully use applicable information.

Provide professional support to staff or faculty members in defining projects and applying data science principles.

Perform other related work as needed.

Education & Minimum Qualifications Minimum: college or university degree in a related field.

Work Experience 2–5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred Qualifications Education

Advanced degree.

Experience

Experience in Python including Torch and scikit‑learn libraries strongly preferred.

Experience with image data or unstructured text data using large language models.

Preferred Competencies

Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, or other statistical programming languages.

Experience with data visualization platforms such as Tableau or Power BI.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to communicate complex findings in accessible ways.

Detail‑oriented with a commitment to data accuracy and quality.

Experience working with research or program evaluation data strongly preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
