Helps low-income individuals and families attain home ownership. New houses are built through contributions and volunteer labor and are then sold to carefully screened families. May be able to subsidize the thirty-party mortgage. Recipients are required to contribute 250 hours of "sweat equity" labor. On average builds 10-20 homes per year.Some homes are set aside for veteran applicants. Individuals or families with a need for housing and annual income of 30-60% of the Area Median Income. If applicant is a veteran, annual income must be 30-80% Area Median Income.Family’s total debt (house payment plus all others) must be no more than 43% of family’s gross income.Applicant families must be credit worthy.
