Key Responsibilities:
Bachelor or Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering; Registered Professional Engineer in one or more states. 12 to 25 years of direct experience as a civil/structural engineer. Advanced knowledge of building codes related to civil/structural design. Plans and accomplishes goals based on extensive experience and judgment. May lead and direct other engineers and designers on projects, checking their work and providing technical resources. Prepares and reviews designs for compliance with engineering standards, codes, constructability, and completeness. Independently designs steel structures, foundations, masonry, and concrete. Designs complex load-bearing structures such as buildings, platforms, and pipe racks. Develops blueprint and specification packages for bid and construction submittals. Investigates structural failures, damages, and defects, providing reports summarizing findings. Uses design assumptions verified by structural theory and past experiences to simplify design efforts and develop innovative solutions. Coordinates and reviews structural steel shop drawings, concrete submittals, and other equipment or material submittals. Reviews and responds to contractor Requests for Information (RFIs) on assigned projects.
