Congregation Beth Israel (CBI) is seeking an additional First Grade teacher to join our Religious School faculty for the remainder of the 2025–26 school year. Our First Grade program has grown this fall, and we’re excited to open a second classroom!
About the Role
Schedule: Sunday mornings, 9:00 AM–12:30 PM
Dates: December 2025 – May 19, 2026
Estimated Hours: 16 hours per month
Pay Rate: $26/hour
Each elementary class includes approximately 12–15 students and a teen madrich(a) (teaching assistant) who supports classroom activities. Students also participate in arts-based enrichment—music, visual arts, drama, and dance—led by specialist instructors.
CBI follows both the Portland Public Schools and Jewish holiday calendars for breaks and closures.
