Data Scientist - Strategic Data Solutions

Apple’s Strategic Data Solutions (SDS) team leads efforts to mitigate monetary losses, optimize various business processes, and provide investigation support for our Business Assurance and Compliance (BAC) team. Our team applies data analytics to drive impact across multiple lines of business at Apple. We are looking for an outstanding data scientist who is interested in working closely with our Finance and BAC partner teams; understanding their processes and analytic needs; and developing technical solutions along the way. They will partner with our data scientists and business analysts to analyze complex business problems, have access to internal and external data sources, and be expected to communicate relevant insights to leadership. The ideal candidate works well in collaborative environments with minimal formal structure and is comfortable in uncertain environments with competing priorities. They must possess proven business acumen, a strong quantitative / technical background, natural curiosity, and the ability to effectively shift between communications styles based on the audience.

Support discovery of business problems
Manage program performance metrics
Perform data discovery and create proof of concepts
Perform ad-hoc and reoccurring analytics
Work with Machine learning engineers and software developers to generate solutions
Present results of analyses to business partners and leadership
Minimum Qualifications
BS / MS in technical field (math, statistics, engineering, computer science, analytics, or similar)
Minimum 3 years of experience working as a data scientist/data analyst, auditor, or related role
Competent with SQL, big data systems and tools. Ability to do statistical analysis in any one of these languages: Python, R, Java, etc.
Experience applying analytical techniques to provide solutions to real business problems
Documenting features and functions of technical systems
Validating functional specifications against business requirementsCompetent with Tableau or similar application
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to connect and develop strong partnerships
Preferred Qualifications
Creativity to go beyond current tools to deliver best solution to the problem
Inquisitiveness and a desire for continued self-improvement and development of new skills
Comfort working independently and making key decisions on projects
Ability to tell meaningful stories with data
Some experience with Finance organizations and fraud preferred
