The Early Childhood Services Recruitment & Retention Specialist assists in the assessment of local early care and education programs' needs and assists in the recruitment and retention of child care providers and resources. The Recruitment & Retention Specialist also provides technical assistance for startup and sustainability to both licensed and license-exempt early care and education providers.

Candidate qualifications:

  • Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Child Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, Family Consumer Sciences, Social Work, Elementary Education, Child Welfare, Family Services or related field OR Associates degree in another field with at least two years experience in the early childhood field required; Bachelors degree in related field preferred.
  • Gateways to Opportunity member OR must join the registry within ninety (90) days of employment.
  • Approved Gateways Registry Trainer through Gateways to Opportunity OR must obtain approval within twelve (12) months of employment.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in the early childhood field preferred
  • Adept at communicating effectively both in writing and verbally.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office products and electronic database systems, required.
  • Able to meet with center-based and home-based providers in person, and you have a valid driver's license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Conducts outreach in-person, virtually and by phone with current and potential family childcare and childcare centers and supports their implementation of Illinois Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS) licensing standards and ExceleRate Illinois.
  • Develops and implements strategies designed to provide support and assist in the recruitment, retention, and improvement of quality in early care and education programs. Strategies include, but are not limited to, providing technical assistance, consultation and training.
  • Supports implementation of research based best practice standards that are age and developmentally appropriate and inclusive and respectful of children with special needs, low-income families, and unhoused populations.
  • Connects early care and education providers with available resources such as grants, community resources and professional development opportunities to meet standards and improve quality.
  • Collaborates with other agencies, community coalitions or family childcare associations to respond to community needs.

Job details:

  • Compensation: Hourly: Range is between $18.47 - $23.09 hourly; offers are commensurate with experience and bilingual candidates may receive additional compensation. The salary range provided represents our current estimate for this role at the time of posting and is subject to change. The final salary will be determined based on a range of factors, including but not limited to, a candidate's relevant experience, education, qualifications, skills, certifications, and alignment with organizational needs.   • Location: Home office location at 2133 Johnson Dr., Granite City with the possibility of 1-2 days remote.
  • Schedule: Full-time, Non-Exempt.
