Gulf Coast News – WBBH, the NBC affiliate in Fort Myers, FL, is looking for a
Local News Anchor Reporter
who can authentically deliver news stories with confidence and authority. The ideal candidate knows how to tell stories visually and can perform active, engaging live shots. You should possess credibility, personality, and be willing to go into the field to cover major stories. As a newsroom leader, you will mentor team members, write and edit scripts with a conversational tone, and work efficiently under tight deadlines. You should also have strong live anchoring skills, the ability to develop sources, and a versatile, enterprising spirit. Reporting to the News Director, your role encompasses anchoring, social media engagement, guiding reporters and producers, and upholding journalistic integrity.
Responsibilities
Anchor newscasts
Engage actively on social media to connect with the audience
Deliver scripted and ad-libbed content with professionalism and personality
Collaborate with reporters and producers to produce newscasts
Simplify complex information for viewers
Maintain journalistic integrity and ethical standards in all interactions
Represent the station at public events
Requirements
Professional or educational experience in anchoring
Demo reel showcasing your typical work
Ability to connect authentically with viewers
Flexibility to work varied shifts, including overnights and weekends
Capability to handle the stresses of time-sensitive newscast production
Strong journalistic integrity and ethics
Experience with digital and social media platforms
Military experience related to journalism is considered
In-person attendance required
