Overview
The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Centers make a difference in people's lives. Through the collection and resale of gently used goods we provide financial support to assist men and women with a variety of social and spiritual afflictions. The in‑residence rehabilitation program focuses on basic necessities, ensuring a clean and healthy living environment, good food, work therapy, leisure activities, group and individual counseling, and spiritual direction.
All our efforts focus on developing life skills and personal relationships with God through Jesus Christ. Beyond a job, each team member contributes to recycling goods that literally recycle and repair broken lives.
The Center is seeking a Production Assistant (Truck Driver) to complete driving routes for pickup and drop off of donations at the warehouse, assigned donation boxes, and at donor homes.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the security and safe operation of the vehicle and other assigned equipment. Promptly report all accidents involving the truck, personal injury, or property damage and complete all necessary paperwork.
Perform daily walk‑around inspection of the vehicle, checking air, water, oil and other items to maintain equipment in good operating condition.
Ensure the truck cab and box are clean and personal items are removed daily.
Plan daily routing based on assigned pickups and make all scheduled calls.
Develop the assigned route, including bagging or carding duties.
Serve as a personal representative of The Salvation Army, treating all customers courteously and following the Manual for Production Assistants.
Maintain a professional appearance in compliance with the company dress code.
Maintain complete and accurate records, including delivery manifests, trip logs, and Green Sheets, and adhere to communication procedures and company codes.
Load and unload truck goods safely, using blankets, ropes, or appropriate safety equipment, and secure items to avoid damage or excessive movement during transit.
Assist Thrift Store personnel by ensuring proper placement of delivered items.
Instruct and supervise the Truck Helper, providing role modeling for those in rehabilitation.
Support the work‑therapy program component by demonstrating professional conduct and effective supervision.
Perform any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor or Administrator.
Qualifications
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Valid driver’s license for assigned vehicles and an acceptable DMV record; must pass a driving test.
Ability to lift 100 lbs.
Ability to read maps, plan, and prioritize daily route coverage.
Proficiency with an iPad using GPS, texting, and truck inspection reporting.
Medical card requirement depending on city and/or state, and DOT Physical required.
