Job Responsibilities:
Operate various types of heavy equipment engaged in construction, repair, or maintenance of county roads and bridges.
Assist Foreman in supervising Equipment Operators.
Transport materials to and from work sites.
Operate heavy equipment such as finish blade, asphalt truck, motor grader, and others used in construction and repair.
Perform work with hand tools, including trench digging, excavation filling, concrete mixing, tree and brush removal, and debris clearing.
Perform welding duties, including welding parts and repairing broken or cracked components.
Drive trucks such as tractor-trailers, dump trucks, water trucks, oil trucks, and pickups for hauling materials.
Operate rollers and other heavy equipment for paving roads.
Operate front-end loaders or track loaders for loading/unloading materials.
Assist in bridge construction and repair tasks.
Operate additional equipment like recyclers, dozers, rotary brooms, and more.
Assist in road base preparation and subgrading before paving.
Assist with clearing brush, traffic control, and drainage ditch cleaning.
Demonstrate equipment operation techniques to other operators.
Assist with patching, tamping, and leveling during pothole repair and reconstruction.
Perform duties of Equipment Operator I, II, III as needed.
Attend monthly safety meetings.
Submit daily employee timesheets.
Maintain regular and timely attendance.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent plus at least six years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge.
CDL driver's license and tanker endorsement.
Knowledge of safe operation of construction and maintenance equipment, relevant traffic laws, and safety standards.
Ability to analyze safety conditions, write reports, operate and service equipment, and work effectively under outside weather conditions.
Must maintain a valid Texas driver's license and a good driving record.
