Systems Engineer (DevOps Engineer) LS Technologies, a Tetra Tech Company, is seeking a Systems Engineer to serve as a

DevOps Engineer

within the FAA’s cloud infrastructure and systems modernization program. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud‑based solutions that support FAA mission systems, applying DevOps methodologies and automation tools to streamline infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and maintenance across multiple environments.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain automated deployment pipelines for cloud infrastructure and applications using modern DevOps tools and frameworks.

Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions to manage configuration, scaling, and updates of FAA systems in cloud and hybrid environments.

Develop automation scripts, playbooks, and workflows to improve system reliability, consistency, and repeatability.

Support continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes to enhance development efficiency and reduce operational risk.

Collaborate with system architects, developers, and operations personnel to define and refine system requirements, automation goals, and integration points.

Perform system engineering activities including requirements analysis, design documentation, testing, and implementation.

Monitor system performance and implement automated solutions to enhance scalability, resilience, and security.

Ensure all automation and DevOps processes comply with FAA security, configuration management, and change control policies.

Provide technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and maintenance guides related to automated systems and pipelines.

Required Qualifications

Proven experience in DevOps engineering, automation, or systems integration roles.

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.

2–5 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, DevOps, or cloud automation.

Hands‑on expertise with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.

Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

Experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, or similar).

Strong understanding of cloud environments (AWS preferred), containerization (Docker, OpenShift, or Kubernetes), and automated deployment strategies.

Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and configuration management tools.

Strong problem‑solving, documentation, and collaboration skills.

Ability to work independently and contribute to cross‑functional teams in a complex technical environment.

Compensation (Pay Bands) The projected compensation range for this full‑time position is $83,000–$95,000 annually for Washington, DC. Compensation may vary based on education, certifications, skills, location, and clearances. Please note that this range is a guideline only and is part of the total compensation package.
