Software Engineer, Infrastructure (8+ YOE) San Francisco, CA | New York, NY | Remote (Seattle, WA only)

Open Teams

Base Infrastructure

- Build replication, failover, performance, memory usage, vertical scaling. Lead strategy & execution.

Compute

- Kubernetes platform for all services, including AI services. Roadmap: network stack overhaul, service discovery, region‑level disaster recovery, Kubernetes operators.

Data Infrastructure

- Reliable, self‑service analytics with Spark, Kafka, Flink. Scale to petabytes, sub‑second streaming, data governance, ML‑ready datasets.

Storage

- Scalable storage abstractions using RDS MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis, TiDB. Own system build, run, improve across infrastructure to developer code.

Hiring Locations

San Francisco Bay Area – in‑office 2–3×/week

New York City – in‑office 2–3×/week

Remote – greater Seattle area

What You’ll Do

Identify & lead significant infrastructure improvements across teams to maximize business & engineering impact.

Work on complex systems‑level problems where scalability, reliability, security matter.

Build clean, reusable abstractions for long‑term use by Airtable engineers.

Own components, ensuring reliability, performance & observability in production.

Who You Are

8+ years industry experience; not an early‑career position.

Experience with databases, distributed systems, service architectures, or data infrastructure.

Passion for refactoring and building clean abstractions.

Strong CS background with a degree in CS or related field.

Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco Bay Area or New York City.
