Practice Overview Ankura’s fast‑growing global Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Practice offers a full‑service suite of cybersecurity and data privacy solutions for clients, regardless of industry or size. We provide incident response, complex investigations, threat intelligence, expert services, managed security services, cyber risk and data privacy advisory services customized to clients’ requirements. Our experts assess cyber risk and readiness, test and harden clients’ infrastructure, and respond instantly and decisively when threats arise. We regularly advise boards of directors, members of the C‑suite, general counsel, outside counsel, IT leaders, and other stakeholders at all stages of any cyber incident.
Role Overview The Information Governance Senior Managing Director role is an executive level position that sells, leads and manages complex client engagement(s). The successful candidate will be a "person of stature" and self‑sustaining rainmaker who generates $3 – $5 million+ annually. The candidate will possess a strong personal brand and deep market‑making relationships resulting in a robust flow of inbound calls and bookings. The candidate will be a hands‑on, passionate consulting executive who will work with team members in developing and executing on key account plans, nurturing executive level client relationships of the most strategic accounts, and achieving revenue targets. The successful candidate must be a commercial leader able to drive revenue growth and capture market share. The role will be intimately familiar with the practice’s customer support objectives and responsible for designing, managing, and performing information governance activities and go‑to‑market strategy while conveying your results to internal and external customers.
Responsibilities
Initiates and converts business opportunities and collaborates with other Senior Managing Directors to sell and deliver engagements that generate $3 – $5 million+ annually
Driving practice‑level revenue through new client relationships across industries
Collaborate with senior practitioners to develop and implement go‑to‑market strategies related to driving revenue growth
Help grow the Information Governance team and support commercial clients across a variety of industries
Actively lead, manage, and provide executive level oversight on projects
Develop procedures and processes for ensuring the classification, confidentiality, data privacy, data protection, retention and disposition of client and firm information
Develop and implement plans, strategies, and policies that improve client’s posture as it relates to information governance, data privacy, data protection, and other information governance functions and services
Serves as an information governance subject matter expert able to advise on client’s teams such as: document management system team, litigation support team, email management team, and security governance teams; legal teams; and administrative departments
Drafts, reviews and/or presents proposals, project plans, status reports, metrics, and other information in a format and style appropriate for the intended audience
Communicates the information governance vision and information governance guiding principles in a variety of forums for clients and across Ankura practices
Mentors and coaches team members to enable their growth as information governance subject matter experts, consulting professionals, and client advocates
Participate in externally facing events (conferences, webinars, etc. representing Ankura and the Practice to increase market awareness
Work collaboratively with others in the practice and elsewhere in the firm on various initiatives
Provide strategic insights to leadership teams regarding market trends, service offerings, and staffing changes
Client service activities (administration and project execution)
Effectively communicate with clients regarding existing projects and upselling of additional services
Development and presentation of project output to key stakeholders, including Executive and Board Level individuals
Participate in the development of standard operating procedures and other practice initiatives
Quality review of deliverables and externally facing content
Collaborate with practice management to provide input into strategic initiatives
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in a business or technology related field
15+ years experience in information governance or business analysis gained in professional services advising clients
Proven revenue generation of $3 – $5 million+ annually in consulting and/or professional services with significant client engagement experience
The candidate will possess a strong personal brand and deep market‑making
Extensive and demonstrable experience in information governance, records management, data privacy, data protection, or related area in a highly sophisticated legal, professional services, consulting or corporate environment
Broad knowledge of information governance, data privacy, and data protection laws, regulations, and best practices
Must demonstrate a risk management mindset with exceptional attention to detail
Ability to build strong relationships, and help build out appropriate go‑to‑market materials, templates and proposals
Willingness and flexibility to travel as required
Helpful Certifications: Information Governance Professional (IGP), Certified Records Manager (CRM), Electronic Records Management (ERM) or similar professional certifications preferred
