Under broad supervision, the Data Analyst performs complex statistical, financial, and operational data analysis to inform critical management decisions. This role is central to extracting insights from data, identifying trends, and improving operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will be proficient in SQL, data visualization, and turning complex data sets into actionable intelligence. With various latitude of independent judgment, this position supports strategic initiatives through robust analysis and reporting.
Data Analysis & Reporting
Extract and analyze primary data from Oracle databases using advanced SQL queries.
Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
Develop and produce ongoing reports and data visualizations using Tableau to communicate findings effectively.
Provide timely and accurate data to fulfill internal and external data requests.
Research & Evaluation
Oversee and collaborate on evaluation and research projects.
Identify, compile, and ‘clean’ data from various sources to ensure accuracy and reliability for research.
Manage, summarize, and analyze both quantitative and qualitative data.
Summarize research findings and their implications for leadership and stakeholders.
Prepare findings for publication and abstract published research.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Strategy
Communicate evaluation plans and complex data insights clearly to leadership and stakeholders.
Collaborate with external research partners to ensure a unified understanding of data points and sets.
Develop and monitor internal and external data requests.
Provide strategic analysis to support project management, grants, and contracts.
May assist with orientation and provide task guidance to junior team members.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Business Administration) from an accredited college or university AND Two years of related experience in a lead or supervisory role;
OR Associate’s degree in a related field AND Four years of related experience, Two years of which in a lead or supervisory role;
OR Two years of experience at the lower-level IT Business Analyst or position equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
2 years of relevant work experience in the Criminal Justice field and/or Data Management/Analysis.
Strong knowledge of reporting packages (Business Objects, etc.), databases (SQL, Oracle), and programming (XML, Javascript, or ETL frameworks).
Significant experience in accessing and extracting data from organizational databases.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficiency in queries, report writing, and presenting findings.
Experience with data visualization software, specifically Tableau.
