Job Description Please Read Before Applying: This Position Is Located on the Island of Maui, State of Hawai'i As an Airport Law Enforcement Officer – Armed Patrol in Kahului, HI, you will serve and safeguard the airport, its facilities, its travelers, and airport operations. You will interact with the public, provide outstanding customer service, and communicate clearly while upholding our values of teamwork, integrity, and putting people first. Position Type : Part Time – Morning/Afternoon
Pay Rate : $28.86 / Hour with an hourly bonus of $3.58. Premium paid shall be based on the position actually worked by the employee.

Mon: 05:30 AM – 02:00 PM
Fri: 02:30 PM – 11:00 PM
Sun: 05:30 AM – 02:00 PM
Minimum Qualifications To be considered, all applicants must meet the following criteria:
2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level).
Pre‑Employment Requirements
Graduate of Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or Equivalent (must provide credentials upon applying).
Valid Driver's License.
Law Enforcement Officer License.
22+ years of age.
Basic Qualifications
Applicant must complete one of the following approved programs:
Certified State law enforcement recruit training.
Certified County law enforcement recruit training.
Federal law enforcement training.
Programs approved by the Director.
No felony convictions or convictions for abuse of a household member under Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(9)) or documented truthfulness infractions in violation of Giglio/Henthorn for federal impeachment proceedings (referring to the decisions in Giglio v. United States, 405 U.S. 105 (1972) and United States v. Henthorn, 931 F. 2d 29 (9th Cir. 1991)).
Knowledge and Skills Required
Must be able to supervise Contractor's personnel and work effectively with airport management, tenants, other law enforcement agencies and the public on matters relating to security disputes, complaints on the performance, conduct or behavior of subordinate employees.
Other Attributes
Shall have no record of moral turpitude, domestic violence, untruthfulness, or mental or emotional disorders which may interfere with performance of duties.
Responsibilities
Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site‑specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner.
Exercise sound judgment and render immediate, appropriate decisions under stressful conditions.
Maintain maturity in conduct, behavior, and attitude.
Take orders, follow instructions, accept and assume responsibility for one's actions.
Alertness, attentiveness, and professional conduct. Recognize, respond, and take appropriate corrective actions to various situations.
Show strong moral character with high standards and truthfulness.
Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, in English.
Exhibit courtesy in interpersonal relationships with the public, airport employees, tenants, law enforcement, and security personnel.
LEOs may be required to provide a court appearance for citations issued on behalf of DOTA; Contractor shall provide replacement staffing for LEOs required to attend a court proceeding.
Physical Requirements and Environment
Mentally and emotionally capable of performing all duties required for assigned post/duties.
In good physical health and fully capable of performing normal or emergency duties requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion such as standing, walking, patrolling for an entire shift, climbing stairs, running, and self‑defense.
Perform essential physical tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
Lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. (e.g., fire extinguisher) for a designated distance.
Assisting in the safe evacuation of individuals, including carrying a small child or providing support to persons with limited mobility.
Subject to a random drug screen.
Capable of exercising physical force if required in official duties.
Pass a security background check conducted by the DOTA/pass and ID office.
Well‑groomed and neat in appearance as officially commissioned representatives of the State.
Pass and complete a one‑time physical examination within the past 6 months.
Pass a 12‑panel drug test and all future random drug testing.
Correctable vision to 20/30 each eye with normal color vision.
Able to hear at a normal conversational level (a hearing aid may be used).
