The posted UCSC Salary Scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See the scale titled, Faculty Ladder Rank Business/Economics/Engineering Fiscal Year. A reasonable estimate for a full-time position is $115,000 - 250,300. Percent time:
Variable (0-100%), the appointment’s percentage of time will depend on the level of engagement of the position’s activities in research, teaching and service. Anticipated start:
This recruitment is valid for initial appointments effective August 2025 through August 2026. Initial appointments with effective dates outside of this recruitment period will require an alternative open recruitment. Position duration:
Appointments are typically made as fiscal year, term appointments (see CAPM 512.280 Adjunct Professor Series).

Position Description
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of assistant adjunct professors, associate adjunct professors, and adjunct professors. Adjunct faculty members are expected to engage in research or other creative activity, teaching, and university and public service. Appointments in this series may be assigned to academic scholars currently affiliated with other universities, or to qualified individuals who are professional practitioners of appropriate distinction when such an affiliation supports the academic and professional endeavors of the department. These appointments forge closer relations between the university and other academic institutions or industry, are frequently self-funded, and involve a limited length of service. Academically qualified research or other creative personnel who contribute significantly to teaching either in formal courses or in guidance of graduate students in one or more of the areas below are encouraged to apply. The campus is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the breadth of scholarly activity and who can add additional dimension to the Baskin School of Engineering by complementing or augmenting our existing research strengths. Current areas of excellence and research foci within the Computer Science and Engineering Department include algorithms, animation & visualization, architecture, artificial intelligence, assistive technology, computer science education, computer system design, database systems, digital design, embedded systems, entrepreneurship, graphics, information retrieval (or data mining), information technology systems design, knowledge management, machine learning, mobile and cloud computing, networks, operations research, operating systems, product development, programming languages, security, sensor technology, services engineering, software engineering, and storage systems. UC Santa Cruz is the University of California campus nearest to Silicon Valley and maintains close ties with local industry in the fields of computer science/engineering, and technology management. The campus is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the inclusive excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching, and/or service.
Qualifications
Basic qualifications
(required at the time the application is submitted) Ph.D. (or equivalent foreign degree) in computer engineering, computer science, economics, electrical engineering, industrial and systems engineering, operations research, management or a closely related field. Demonstrated record of research and teaching.
