Responsibilities

Clinical Care: Assess, triage, and manage patient/family needs; collaborate with supervising physicians; perform exams, order diagnostics; formulate and manage treatment plans; execute procedures and prescribe medications per guidelines; act as first or second assistant on operative cases if within scope.

Patient Education & Psychosocial Support: Educate patients/families on care and resources; provide psychosocial support as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Information Management: Ensure appropriate documentation and protect healthcare information per regulations.

Quality Management: Demonstrate a high standard of moral and ethical behavior; ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standards.

Professional Development: Engage in projects to maintain competency; serve as clinical resource for new staff and students; report safety events; collaborate on research and quality improvement projects.

Qualifications Education

Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program.

Experience

Clinical experience as an NP/PA in the specialty/service line is preferred but not required.

APRNs, PAs, CRNAs, and CNMs must be appointed to the Affiliated Medical Staff of a YNHHS hospital and complete the credentialing process.

Licensure

Active PA Certification by NCCPA, Connecticut State PA License, ACLS/BLS certified, DEA license when indicated.

Additional certifications may be required depending on position and specialty.
