Job Summary
The Director, Learner Experience in the UCSF School of Nursing (SON) is responsible for managing the day‑to‑day operations of student services. The role supervises a team of professional staff—including an Academic Achievement Counselor, Office of Clinical Placements Manager, Recruitment and Outreach Manager, and administrative personnel—to ensure effective and timely delivery of student services and core functional areas such as recruitment, admissions, student advising, academic progression, financial aid coordination, clinical placements, graduation processing, and records management.
The Director works under the direction of the Associate Dean, Education Programs, implementing systems, policies, and procedures established at the School or Office level. The role focuses on operational management and continuous process improvement, identifying issues and trends in student services, escalating complex matters to the Associate Dean for strategic action, and collaborating with campus units such as the UCSF Graduate Division, Registrar’s Office, and Financial Aid Office to ensure alignment with university, state, and federal regulations.
Responsibilities
Manage day‑to‑day operations of student services.
Supervise and develop a multidisciplinary team of professional staff.
Ensure timely delivery of recruitment, admissions, advising, progression, financial aid coordination, clinical placements, graduation processing, and record management.
Implement and continually improve systems, policies, and procedures at the School level.
Identify service issues, analyze trends, and recommend strategic solutions to the Associate Dean.
Coordinate with UCSF Graduate Division, Registrar’s Office, and Financial Aid Office to maintain compliance with regulations.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Minimum 6 years of related experience.
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a lead/supervisor/manager.
Ability to develop original ideas to solve problems, persuade others, and lead.
Strong problem- identification and reasoning skills.
Project management skills and social perceptiveness to understand others’ reactions.
Monitoring and assessing people, processes, or services to make improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
Knowledge of university-specific computer applications, and understanding of risk assessment procedures.

Salary and Benefits Salary range: $87,900 - $187,700 (Annual Rate). Final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
