Overview
Colgate University is seeking a Proctor in the Office of Equity and Diversity. This is a part‑time position (approximately 20 hours per week during the academic year) that enforces stipulations on exam cover sheets, monitors exams, collects materials, prepares materials for faculty pick‑up or delivery, and performs related administrative duties as directed by the Executive Director, Assistant Director, or Disability Associate(s) of the Office of Student Disability Services.
Accountabilities
Proctor exams in accordance with the exam cover sheet and department policies.
Collaborate in maintaining shared exam scheduling calendars, schedule forms, and other proctored requests.
Adhere to the department workflow from exam initiation to completion to ensure established practices and academic integrity.
Act as a point of contact for students and faculty by sending reminder emails, flagging issues, and entering exams in scheduling calendars per supervisor instruction.
Package exams for student administration and prepare for faculty pick‑up upon completion.
Validate student identity and collect test forms and other paperwork.
Document and report testing anomalies as directed by faculty.
Monitor students to ensure security and protect faculty intellectual property, maintaining confidentiality of testing and case information.
Ensure students adhere to testing timetables and approved academic adjustments, and monitor breaks per the cover sheet and policies.
Professional Experience / Qualifications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High degree of confidentiality and integrity with professional demeanor.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in higher education.
Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Calendar), Apple products, and ability to learn program-specific management systems.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent professional experience preferred.
