Job Summary Safely operate a variety of heavy equipment, including backhoes, excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, haul trucks, dump trucks and water trucks. Perform preventative maintenance and pre‑shift walk‑around inspections to ensure safe operation.
Key Responsibilities Maintain positive working relationships with all crew members.
Produce high‑quality work safely and productively at all times.
Provide feedback to ensure that all materials, tools, equipment and information are available for work.
Seek opportunities for improvement in all tasks and share knowledge with others.
Demonstrate high proficiency in all related equipment preventative maintenance.
Inspect subordinate work, ensure accuracy and compliance with plans and specifications, explain deficiencies and take corrective action.
Eliminate waste such as waiting, rework, transporting, material storage and time.
Minimum Job Requirements Minimum of three years (Level I), four years (Level II), five years (Level III) and six or more years’ experience in industrial/commercial construction and a deep understanding of heavy equipment operation.
Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications, safety and quality standards and effectively use all trade tools and equipment.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements Work up to a 12‑hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions.
Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood frameworks, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
Lift, push or pull objects up to 50 lbs occasionally.
Use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects frequently.
Comply with all safety standards and procedures.
Reach above shoulder height and below the waist frequently.
Sto ops, kneel or bend occasionally.
Wear personal protective equipment (steel‑toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.).
Move in and around confined, cluttered and uneven areas.
Safety Level Safety‑Sensitive: Tasks or duties that could affect the safety and health of the employee or others, such as operating vehicles or equipment, repairing or maintaining vehicles/equipment, handling hazardous materials, or handling flammable or combustible materials.
